Attention Runners and Walkers in the Downriver Area!!!

June 15th, 2007 is the annual Zanglin Downriver Run through Elizabeth Park in Trenton, MI. Every year, the proceeds from the run are donated to charitable organizations and this year, Smiles for Sophie will benefit from the generosity of Jim Zanglin and all the participants of this year’s event.

So, if you’re interested in running or walking this year to help raise funds for charity, please check out the Zanglin Downriver Run website at http://www.zanglinrun.com/. There is both a 1 mile fun run that starts at 7:30 pm and an 8K road race that starts at 8:00 pm, followed by a street party. The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages. The website has all the pertinent information as well as links to registration information.

Thanks to Libby Shumate and Sandi Polgar, another of my mom’s Lenox neighbors, for their work in this fundraising event. Also, many thanks to Jim Zanglin and the Zanglin Downriver Run for choosing to help support Sophie and her family with this year’s event.

Sophie's great grandfather, who is in a skilled nursing facility under hospice care, was told about Sophie's condition just last week. Anthony, the hospice worker, called me today to tell me that he spent two hours last night talking and praying with this great grandfather. He asked Anthony to get a card for him so he could mail it to Sophie. I know Sophie's great grandfather believes in miracles. You have the love and prayers from so many people. Stay strong in your faith.

Emily and Mark,
We pray several times a day for Sophie's miracle and for hope and strength for her family. We are right across the street. Please let us know if we can help with ANYTHING.

i will forever treasure every moment i spent with you this past saturday. i still smile when i think about playing in our "boat" in mommy and daddy's bed! i love you sophie. i love that double, triple trouble "yahoo" sister of yours too! your mommy makes me so proud... only God is strong enough to guide her through every second of every day and every second of every night. God never presents more than we can handle ~ over and over again i realize that you have one very, very strong mommy and yes, i love her too! i look forward to our next playdate...

Dear Emily and Mark,

I just wanted you all to know I'm still praying for little Sophie whenever I think of her. She's so cute and seems full of life. I pray that God will give her the strength to fight this illness and conquer it. I'll be praying for you all too, as a family, to be able to handle this and take care of little Sophie. You know, your website for her is aptly named...smiles for Sophie! She has the most charming, brilliant smile that I bet you all love so dearly. Take care and best wishes to you all, especially Sophie.
