Sophie's Story and Picture Album Added

We added the "Sophie's Story" link as well as a "Picture Album" link to the right hand side of the website. We wanted people who are new to the site to get an idea of what it is all about. As for the pictures, many are repeats; we will get some new ones once we get access to Emily's computer at home where all the others are stored.

Hopefully I will get a chance to give a longer update later, if I choose not to go to bed. Now I really think I am hitting the wall as far as fatigue goes.

The above picture was taken the very first week end that Sophie threw up. In fact, we weren't sure if the Segedis should come visit because we didn't know if Sophie had a virus. We're glad they came and Sophie had fun with Alayna.

Thanks for the prayers, thoughts and well wishes, and for caring enough to read this blog.

Marc and Emily,
Sophie's Story is so beautifully written. My prayer today is that many years from now you will read this at Sophie's wedding reception-right after Marc has a chance to dance with his first-born. There won't be a dry eye in the room as everyone marvels at what a miracle they have witnessed!
Sophie is an amazing and smart child because she has 2 parents who have committed to doing what is best for her and surround her with an enriching environment. She used the term "unconditional love" at an early age because she experiences it herself every day.
Sophie's Story is not only a tribute to the special daughter you are raising, but also a testament to the faithful parents that both of you are.
God bless you,
Paula Koziol

You are doing an excellent job of keeping it all together. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. We pray for Sophie every night at bedtime. Emma prays the Drs will "make her better" and she will be back at school soon. I know God has to hear the pray of a three year old. Emily - get the rest you need and take care of yourself. You both are doing such a wonderful job caring for your daughters. God Bless you and know many people lift you up in pray daily.

Hello, my name is Jennifer. Ive never met you before, but I heard of Sophie from an online friend of mine. Sophie's grandmother is my friends teacher.

I cant say much to make you feel any better, but I hope she gets better really soon. I read her story and it made me want to cry. Sophie sounds like an amazing little girl. And she;s adorable to boot!

I want to make a donation, wouldnt be more then $10 now and then, but I would love to help. My friend is going to ask if there is anyway I could send in cash by mail, but if you could help me with that, that would be awesome. Im a teen, so I dont have a credit card or checking account.

Also, I didnt see any, but do you have any banners? Little images with the page's link I can put on some online profiles I have? That way more people can learn of Sophie, and hopefully donate or atleast send their blessings.

I really hope all goes well, I would love to help!

Emily and Marc-

Thank you for sharing Sophie's Story. Your Sophie is a beautiful and loved little girl. She has touched the lives of MANY ~ and at 3 she is changing the world and the people she is touching forever. She IS a miracle. Keep up your strength. I know that your days are long and you may doubt that you'll have the strength to get through - but YOU WILL - you ALL will. REST - I know this seems impossible but you all need this, now more than ever. Keep the laughter going, even in the times when it feels like you can't. That is when you need to the most.
May God continue to protect Sophie. Your family is always in our thoughts.

Emily and Marc,
What a beautiful story about Sophie. She was born right around the time that we moved. I know I met her once when she was a newborn. Her story is a reminder that the life we live today should be treasured because we don't know what tomorrow brings. The ONLY certainty we have in this world is God. You are wonderful parents, that is obvious. Right along with you we will keep praying for your family and the miracle we so desperately want for Sophie.
I am going to be talking to my mom tomorrow. She is a doctor of natural homeopathy. In May she graduates and will be a minister. Perhaps she can help when Sophie is done with her treatments.
I hope Sophie and Sarah enjoy the goodie box.

The Brave Little Soul
By: John Alessi

Not too long ago in Heaven there was a little soul who took wonder in observing the world. He especially enjoyed the love he saw there and often expressed this joy with God. One day however the little soul was sad, for on this day he saw suffering in the world. He approached God and sadly asked, "Why do bad things happen; why is there suffering in the world?" God paused for a moment and replied, "Little soul, do not be sad, for the suffering you see, unlocks the love in people's hearts." The little soul was confused. "What do you mean," he asked. God replied, "Have you not noticed the goodness and love that is the offspring of that suffering? Look at how people come together, drop their differences and show their love and compassion for those who suffer. All their other motivations disappear and they become motivated by love alone." The little soul began to understand and listened attentively as God continued, "The suffering soul unlocks the love in people's hearts much like the sun and the rain unlock the flower within the seed. I created everyone with endless love in their heart, but unfortunately most people keep it locked up and hardly share it with anyone. They are afraid to let their love shine freely, because they are afraid of being hurt. But a suffering soul unlocks that love. I tell you this - it is the greatest miracle of all. Many souls have bravely chosen to go into the world and suffer - to unlock this love - to create this miracle for the good of all humanity."

Just then the little soul got a wonderful idea and could hardly contain himself. With his wings fluttering, bouncing up and down, the little soul excitedly replied. "I am brave; let me go! I would like to go into the world and suffer so that I can unlock the goodness and love in people's hearts! I want to create that miracle!" God smiled and said, "You are a brave soul I know, and thus I will grant your request. But even though you are very brave you will not be able to do this alone. I have known since the beginning of time that you would ask for this and so I have carefully selected many souls to care for you on your journey. Those souls will help you create your miracle; however they will also share in your suffering. Two of these souls are most special and will care for you, help you and suffer along with you, far beyond the others. They have already chosen a name for you". God and the brave soul shared a smile, and then embraced.

In parting, God said, "Do not forget little soul that I will be with you always. Although you have agreed to bear the pain, you will do so through my strength. And if the time should come when you feel that you have suffered enough, just say the word, think the thought, and you will be healed." Thus at that moment the brave little soul was born into the world, and through his suffering and God's strength, he unlocked the goodness and love in people's hearts. For so many people dropped their differences and came together to show their love. Priorities became properly aligned. People gave from their hearts. Those that were always too busy found time. Many began new spiritual journeys, some regained lost faith - many came back to God. Parents hugged their children tighter. Friends and family grew closer. Old friends got together and new friendships were made. Distant family reunited, and every family spent more time together. Everyone prayed. Peace and love reigned. Lives changed forever. It was good. The world was a better place. The miracle had happened. God was pleased.

I have shared Sophie's story with people who I knew would pray for you all. I received this in an email today and thought I'd send it on to hopefully encourage you.

"One of the people in my home bible study that got the request to pray for Sophie....sent me this. I am sending it to you for encouragement!

This story touched my heart. I think that my husband left this on the screen for me to see.... .............
My husband and I will not only pray for this little girl and her family but intercede for them regularly....

we WILL stand on the word of GOD and believe and lay hands on the sick (through the computer, stretching out hands or however God wants it to be)...and I believe that she WILL be made well.

I will put their beautiful daughter on our desktop so that when ever we sit down to it (which is quite often) We will pray for her. I will ask my children to pray as well. The prayers of children are so very powerful."

I was on the CRHP giving team when Emily received and I remember talking about the first night away from a child. (My CRHP night had been my first night away, too.)
There are so many people back here in Cincinnati who are continually praying for you all. My daughter, Sarah, will be 5 in June and in PRP they made prayer chains for Lent. Each night she is supposed to pray for someone and tear a link off the chain. At the end of Lent, she will be left with praying hands. Most nights she chooses to pray for Sophie. Although she's never met your daughter, she asked about the Sophie in my prayers, so I showed her the website.
Ever since then, she has been adament that she needs to pray for Sophie until she gets well.
Our prayers are with you all.

Hi, my name is Brittany Hayslip. I work with Maria Holaday at Identity Hair Salons. When Maria shared Sophie's story with me, it touched me deeply. My cousin, Emily, had a Diffuse Pontine Glioma, and was diagnosed when she was 4. My family went through many hard times but some inspirational ones as well. Emily loved to make cards for people. When she lost the ability to use her right hand, she taught herself how to write with her left. That is just one of many examples of how inspirational she was to me. She is my hero. Children have the most incredible spirits.

Sophie is a beautiful little girl and I pray for her, as well as your family. Even thought I don't know you, I check the website often and read your posts. I will also pass the story along to the rest of my family. There is a website for Emily as well if you would like to visit. www.caringbridge.org/oh/emilyp

I continue to pray for Sophie's miracle.
