Keep the Prayers Coming

Just a quick request for more prayers. It's hard for us to tell if Sophie is doing worse like it seems, or if her body is adjusting to being home and going non stop.

Her limp and stiff leg are more pronounced, as is the weakness in her right arm and hand. She has gone back to mostly crawling up the steps, and she wasn't able to smile as big this afternoon. She is also having trouble with her balance.

We went from giving her the steroid every other day, to every 36 hours, now every day. We are hoping that she is just tired and these symptoms aren't indications of the tumor.

Please say an extra prayer for her today, and all this week until we head back to St. Jude when we will need even more prayers when she gets the MRI. We are anxious and nervous.

Emily, Marc, Sophie, and Sarah

We think about all of you many times everyday. Know that so many people care and are praying for you all of time. I hope the time until your check up at St. Jude flies by so that you can get some peace of mind from the doctors. Sophie has to be ok… there can not be any other option. And we hope you are feeling well to Emily.

Oh Emily, my heart goes out to you, Marc, Sophie & Sarah for everything you are going through. I'm glad you made it home safely from all your travels and I hope your root canal went well on Thursday (as if you aren't dealing with enough already!). I'll be saying many prayers for Sophie (and all of you) each and every day.

We can't stop thinking about you or praying for you. I doubt that there is a second of any 24 hour period when someone on this planet is NOT praying for you. Try not to dwell on Thursday, or the next week, or the next month or next year. Enjoy your beautitful family today and in EVERY moment. Do something fun. There is beauty in every single day and sometimes you just have to go out and search for it. We love you all so very, very much.

I am praying every day for a miracle for Sophie. She is such a little angel! At mass this weekend, Sophie, Maria and all the children suffering from this terrible disease were foremost in my thoughts and prayers as they are always.

Sophie and everybody in your family are in our prayers.

If she starts asking to eat grits, that's because folks in the singles group at Christ The King Cathedral in Atlanta are lifting you up in their prayers.

Dear Emily and Marc,

I came across your website several days ago and it just broke my heart. I too am a mother (to 3 little girls) and I just cried reading Sophie's story. I will be praying so so very hard for her and you all as well. God heals people all the time and I will pray this for Sophie. She's just beautiful and radiant. God bless you all as you go through this together. Best wishes.

I am a retired homecare and hospice nurse and I send you my love and prayers. I know this is a difficult, challenging and heart breaking time for your entire family.
Sophie is one of the St. Jude angels....so many children dealing with so many struggles....daily, unending, painful. And they go through this with such grace.
St. Jude is definitely the place to be.....best care for your little girl, best support for you.
The fund raisers coming up and the help that you have already received are testament to the love that surrounds you all the time.
Take heart in knowing that you are loved and supported and that YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS ORDEAL.
I was surprised to hear of the need to cover medical expenses.....as I had been led to believe over the years that all care from St. Jude's Children's Hospital was FREE. I hope that I was not wrong in this belief, as I have sent them money for years.
As for getting Sophie into Hospice "so early".....it is NEVER TOO EARLY for Hospice care at home......too many people see it as some kind of death sentence...and it is not. Many will get better and some will survive for years and live "normal lives". The services are so excellent and the people who go into hospice work are very special....and loving, caring, giving and have so much to teach you. So, just take it one day at a time.
God be with the entire family, and may you find peace and strength.
Love to you,
Penny Maroldo, RN, BSN, SW (A NJ friend of cousin Eddie Z)
