Kiddie Carnival


Here is the latest information on an upcoming fundraiser for Sophie in Avon Lake. It is a Kiddie Carnival on Sept 29th, from 11-4, at Holy Spirit Church. The flyer for the carnival is above and is also posted in the events section on the right side of this page. Many thanks to Kim Walters, Elizabeth Gedeon, Andrea Bucci, Staci Starr, Michelle Polinko, Stacey Green, the Holy Spirit Parish, the Avon Lake Preschool PTA, and all other volunteers for putting this fundraiser together. Again, the outpouring of generosity and support for Marc, Emily, and Sophie is truly amazing!!

The kindness, support, and generosity of everyone has been one of Sophie's miracles throughout this ordeal. I know that Marc and Emily have been overwhelmed by this spirit of love and community. This IS a wonderful world.

Sophie and Family-
As I was walking around the Westwinds I saw Sophie being pushed in a stroller, and I thought wow what a cute girl. My friend said to me, "Is that little Sophie?" And I said "Yea thats the little miracle." We walked slow while passing you guys. We got home and went strait on this website. God Bless!

We are also fellow Westwind neighbors. We just wanted to tell you that the upcoming Carnival sounds like it will bring in a lot of families with children. What a great way to bring families togehter to offer support. We are following the website and praying every step of the way. Please remain hopeful and thank you for sharing so much of Sophia's story. It allows us to be very specific with our prayers!

Dear Marc and Emily,

I heard about little Sophie through a phone call from Staci Starr. It was so emotional for me to hear Sophie's story, because it is similar in some ways to our dear Natasha (the daughter of my friends Tim and Julie) who we lost in June at the age of 6 to hepatocellular carcinoma caused by a rare genetic disorder known as Alagille's Syndrome. As hard as it was to feel so helpless as her cancer progressed, I was amazed by her spirit and outlook. I don't know why such things happen to beautiful innocent children such as Natasha and Sophie. I do know that the power of prayer is LIMITLESS, and Sophie is in our prayers every day!
Our loss is compounded by the fact that Natasha's father Tim also has Alagille's Syndrome, and is on the waiting list for a liver transplant, so we are still praying and raising money for this amazing family. At our last weekly meeting, I had to tell everyone about Sophie, and she's definitely in all of our thoughts and prayers. I'm planning to bring my son, and some of Natasha's other friends to the carnival...I'm sure it will be a great time for them, and I know how they will feel about being able to help Sophie! I think about your family and pray for Sophie everyday, but today she has been on my mind more for some reason. I hope you can feel the love and support that so many people have for your family. I continue to pray that Sophie gives you joy each day... and for her miracle.

So sorry that we won't be able to attend the fundraiser on Saturday. We made it to Chile's tonight for the nationwide St. Jude fundraiser, though! We bought and decorated "peppers" in honor of Sophie. Still thinking of you always and sending our hope and strength.
